Retractable Awnings & Shade in Whittier

Whittier is Quaker-founded and proud of it, Whittier College on the hill, a genuine historic Uptown, and neighborhoods ranging from 1920s classics to hillside homes with canyon views. The Puente Hills trap the basin heat, and summer afternoons are serious. AJ Shades installs retractable awnings and motorized power screens specified for inland heat, from historic-district-sensitive mounts to hillside wind exposures.

The housing stock here rewards a careful survey: 1920s homes with real framing and deep eaves take beautiful mounts, while hillside properties get the wind conversation first. Either way the estimate shows you the mounting plan in writing before anyone drills. Retractable awnings are the easy case for historic review, retracted, they vanish and change nothing about the street view.

Every retractable awning and motorized screen we install carries our 15-year warranty, estimates are free and on site and in writing, and financing with flexible options is available for qualified buyers. Patio covers are available for the homes that want permanent roofed space, engineered for local wind loads and permitted properly.

Heat is the defining fact of a Whittier summer, long triple-digit runs, nights that barely cool, and patios that bake from noon until the sun drops behind the hills. A retractable awning gives the patio a dial: shade on demand through the furnace hours, open sky when the evening finally turns pleasant. Motorized builds add the wind sensor, so a surprise gust retracts the awning whether anyone is home or not.

Permits in Whittier are refreshingly simple for awnings and screens: no structural changes to the home, no concrete, no trenching, the mounts go into your home’s existing structure. Patio covers with new footings are a different conversation, and on those estimates we handle the plan details with the city.
