What to Expect at Your Free In-Home Estimate

Most homeowners have been burned by at least one contractor estimate: the four-hour window, the two-hour pitch, the price that “expires when I walk out the door.” We built our estimate process as the opposite of that. Here is the visit, step by step, so you know exactly what you’re saying yes to when you text us.

Booking: one text, one-hour window

We’ll find a window that fits your schedule and confirm a one-hour arrival window, not a “sometime Tuesday.” You’ll get a heads-up before we’re headed your way. We run estimates six days a week across San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties, the five counties where we do our own installations with our own crews.

The walkthrough: sun, wind, and structure

The visit opens with a walk of your property, and this is the part most companies rush. We trace the sun’s path across your patio and windows, note the exposures (that west-facing wall matters), assess wind exposure (canyon mouth? ridge top? sheltered courtyard?), and look at what we’re mounting to: stucco, siding, fascia, roof line, patio cover beams. This is also when we talk through what you want the space to do, midday shade, evening entertaining, bug-free dusk, cooler bedrooms, because the right product follows the goal, not the other way around.

Measurements and samples, in your light

Then we measure: every opening, every mounting surface, clearances, projections. And we bring the decisions to you, fabric samples you hold up in your actual sun (not showroom lighting), frame color options against your home’s trim, motor and control demos you can operate yourself. Choosing a canopy color from a website swatch is how people end up surprised; choosing it on your patio at 2 PM is how people end up happy. This is also when we flag anything structural, a fascia that needs reinforcement, an HOA that needs a submittal, so there are no install-day surprises.

The quote: written, itemized, yours to keep

Before we leave, you get a written, itemized quote, every line named: the system, the size, the fabric line, the motor, the sensors, the installation. No lump-sum mysteries, no “allowances” that balloon later. It’s yours to keep, compare, and think over. We don’t do expiring-today pricing or sign-now discounts; a quote that needs pressure to sell wasn’t a good quote. Take it, run it past our company-comparison checklist, get competing bids, we’ll still be here, and the quote will still be good.

Financing, plainly

Our estimate visits are run by our project team, the same people who manage the installations. That matters because the person measuring your project is accountable for how it installs: no telephone game between a salesperson’s promises and a crew’s reality.
